National Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to honor the rich and diverse cultures of Hispanic and Latinx Americans. It is also a time to celebrate their contributions to the United States.
At Clinton Elementary we are kicking-off Hispanic Heritage Month by having students dress up as one of your childhood shows we all have grown up with, El Chavó del 8 and his friends.
Here are some of the notable Hispanic and Latinx Americans who have made significant contributions to the United States:
- Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice
- Cesar Chavez, civil rights leader and founder of the United Farm Workers
- Roberto Clemente, Hall of Fame baseball player
- Rita Moreno, actress and singer
- Gloria Estefan, singer and songwriter
- Jennifer Lopez, actress, singer, and dancer
- Lin-Manuel Miranda, actor, composer, and playwright
These are just a few of the many Hispanic and Latinx Americans who have made a difference in the United States. National Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to learn about their stories and celebrate their achievements.
